About the event
In the wisdom traditions of Britain, an aber—the Brythonic word for a river mouth or estuary—is a threshold where sweet river waters and salt sea meet. Neither wholly land nor ocean, it is a liminal place: a living margin where the known path of the valley opens into tide, mist, and horizon. Here, the river carries the memory of her earthly journey into the sea’s immensity, gathering opposites into one breathing body. In Druidic and Bardic lore, the aber becomes a place of reconciliation: between finite and infinite, this world and the Otherworld. The sacred salmon, returning from ocean to birth-river, embodies this mystery of return, bearing salt-wisdom from beyond the river’s mouth.
