In May 2022, Angharad and her husband, Mike, bought a half-built, abandoned house on a sheep-cropped hill in the uplands of west Wales. Yggdrasil—an ancient ash named for the World Tree of Nordic myth—stands sentinel over the hill and the Cothi River below. From the beginning, the land’s request was clear: “More life, more life.” Between work commitments, they answer this request using both permaculture and micro-rewilding techniques to invigorate and diversify the ecosystem.

.

1,600 native trees, three ponds, new habitats, a thriving orchard and vegetable garden and a gaggle of rescue hens later, the diversity of wildlife is increasing and thriving. The land will continue to be cared for in alliance with the more-than-human, through age-old animate practices of respect, deep listening, and reciprocity.

Lluest y Lloer (The Hearth of the Moon) is a living inquiry into how people and place can flourish together, practically, ecologically and spiritually.

Advocating for humanity’s living kinship with the more than human world

Angharad was born and raised in the Welsh-speaking heartland of west Wales, and spent much of her early life and university years gathering glimmering fragments of Britain's ancient, animist wisdom traditions and stitching them together with threads of our old spirituality, myth, archaeology, history, Celtic languages, folklore, songs and early poetry. Today, she shares this understanding with people around the world through teachings, retreats, pilgrimages, storytelling performances, ceremony and writing. These are conceived as radical acts of re-membering our soulful, deep humanity and re-weaving ourselves back into fully engaged participation with the web of life.

Alongside her career as an international arts, music and heritage consultant and as a place maker, in 2011, Angharad founded Dreaming the Land to support exploration of the mythic landscapes of Britain through pilgrimage and expeditions; Dadeni, a contemporary mystery school steeped in the Brythonic wisdom tradition, followed five years later. In 2021, alongside Colin Campbell and Rachel Flemming, she co-founded Animate Earth Collective, an international community of animist teachers, facilitators, conservationists, thinkers, scientists, and writers. She is a member of Wisdom Keepers, a global initiative that provides a platform for Elders and spiritual leaders from indigenous communities and Wisdom traditions around the world.

Over the past few years, her work has been focused entirely on reweaving and tending humanity’s relationship with the natural world. She continues to speak widely, teach, lead deep process retreats, pilgrimages and ceremonies to tend generative change and transformation. Her first English-language book, Wise Women – Myths and Folklore in Celebration of Older Women, co-authored with Dr Sharon Blackie, was published by Virago in October 2024.

Angharad is happily married to Mike, mum to

Myfanwy and step-mum to Amber. All are ably

managed by Cadi their beloved border collie.

In Service to Stories

Our world is woven together by stories—across time, race, and faith. In her work as both storyteller and writer, Angharad follows these delicate threads, listening for medicine and wisdom that speak eloquently to our times now. Her search has carried her across Europe and as far as India, weaving connections between communities, storytellers, musicians and audiences, while reclaiming lost voices—especially women’s—exploring the interplay of story and place, and the tender edges where spirituality and ecology meet.

Angharad is reclaiming the tradition of the Cyfarwydd: storyteller, ceremonialist, lore‑keeper, and guide. This old Cymraeg name for the traditional storytellers of Britain shares its root with cyfarwyddyd ~ direction. Interestingly, cyfarwydd is also an old word for magic. The ancient Cyfarwyddion's task then was to offer guidance through story‑wisdom, by casting word‑spells that lead listeners from the present into the landscape of imagination, and to bring them back to land soul-nourished, and perhaps a little wiser.

Alongside her performance work, Angharad teaches a series of storytelling and story‑delving programmes annually.
