Honouring the dreaming of this land

The Aboriginal peoples of Central Australia say that, "White man got no dreaming." We believe that's not entirely true. Here in Britain at least, there is a memory of a 'dreaming', fragments at best, but still tangible. Something of it remains in the landscape, if we can only listen for it.

The Dreaming the Land team has spent the greater part of their lives trying to find, re-engage with and piece together that dreaming in the form of myths, folktales, songs, traditions and beliefs. We organise a range of  pilgrimages, expeditions and deep-dive, magical retreats throughout the year in some of Britain's most extraordinary ancient, wild and sacred landscapes with the aim of rediscovering, exploring and sharing the 'Dreaming of Britain,' and reweaving our connection with all creation.

From seasonal day pilgrimages, such as our annual Lammas Pilgrimage & Feast, to the longer In the Footsteps of Ancestors four- to five-day expeditions, to shorter half-day and special land-dreaming weekend retreats, we try to offer magical, meaningful experiences for all capacities and abilities. Each of our Dreaming the Land events combines time on the land, deep listening practices, story, archaeology, folklore, song, music, creative response, ceremony and conviviality, things that help us access our deeper humanity and stretch our relational muscles to encompass all creation. Most are focused around sacred or ancestor sites, mythic landscapes, and following the 'songlines' or story-paths across this land to honour the Earth, explore our glorious landscapes, create together and generate conviviality and connection.
